为啥这两句话中“in”的用法和专门用来表原因的“as，for”等这么像呢？
1. 首先，这两个介词in并不是表原因的。
sth. be forgotten in…的意思是“对某事的记忆被淹没在…中”，可视为固定搭配，且介词只能用in. 句子Both were forgotten in her sudden discovery that her front door was open.直译为“对二者的记忆被淹没在她的前门敞开着这一猛然发现之中”，也就是“在她猛然发现自己的前门敞开着时，她对两件事忘得一干二净”。
第二个in的用法相信题主是清楚的：在ask/need help in sth./doing sth.及help sb. in sth./doing sth.这类表述中，介词只能用in而不能用其它的。
2. 既然在上述两个场合都只能用介词in，自然就不能被别的介词替换，替换为for后当然就有语法错误喽。
