最早可追溯的文字来自英国作家Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie(1837.6.9 - 1919.2.26)于1885年在英国伦敦的《Macmillan's Magazine》和美国波士顿的《Littell's Living Age》上系列刊出的小说《Mrs. Dymond》。
