【含义】
although的基本意思是“尽管,虽然”或“然而,但是”；
although与though在意义上相似，但文体上是比较正式用词，语气比though强。
【区别】
1、语气不同
两词同义并可换用，但although语气较though更重，通常放在句首并用于正式场合。如：
I'd quite like to go out,(al)though it is a bit late.我很想外出，虽然为时稍晚。
Although it was snowing,it was not very cold.虽然下着雪，但并不很冷。
2、强调词位置
用though时，可将强调的词前置，但although不能。如：
Poor though he is,he is happy.虽然他穷，但过得很愉快。
Child though she was,the actress was drawing a crowd.尽管还是个孩子，这个女演员却引起了人们的注目。（child前无冠词a）
3、从句性质不同
although引导从句常指事实，而though引导的句子可表假设。如：
Let's start as arranged though it rains tomorrow.即使明天下雨，咱们也按预定的计划出发吧。（假设）
He was not unhappy although he had to live alone.虽然得一个人生活，他毫无不快之感。（事实）
【用法】
1.though可以做副词，指“但是”，但是although不行。as though属固定搭配，though不能替换成although。although要比though来得更正式，相对而言，语气比较重，但是though的使用更普遍。
2.although引导的从句，常指实际发生的事情，而不是假象，设想。though和although都可在从句中用作连词，通常表示相同的意思，但though更普遍适应于非正式的表述中。
He said he would come, he didn't, though.
句中的though不能替换成although。
He would not be unhappy though he should have to live alone.
就算要一个人住，他可能也不会不开心。
He was not unhappy although he had to live alone.
虽然他不得不要一个人住，却没有不开心。
3.although的语气较重,引导的句子常指事实; though引导的句子可表示假设。
4.though可以引起从句的主语和谓语部分倒装，而although不可以。
5.although只用作连词; 而though除用作连词外,还可用作副词。另外，though可用作并列连词，也可用作从属连词；而although只能用作从属连词。
6.though可用于even though, as though, what though等结构; 而although不能。
