一、读音不同。

1、fill in的式读法是[fɪl ɪn]；美式读法是[fɪl ɪn]。

2、fill out的英式读法是[fɪl aʊt]；美式读法是[fɪl aʊt]。 

二、意思不同。

1、fill in作动词意思只有填写。如：

Please fill in your jurisdictional district.

请填写你的管辖区。

2、而fill out作动词意思有填写；长胖；充实。如：

To fill the hour——that is happiness.

让时间过的充实，那才是幸福。

三、用法不同。

1、fill in指把表中必要的内容补充进去，例如：

Can you fill in some of the details of your career?  

能不能把你的工作经历填得详细一点？

2、fill out指把表中空着的内容都全部填写进去。例如：

She had to fill out forms surrendering all rights to her property.
