Animals are natural resources that people have wasted all through our history. Animals have been killed for their fur and feathers, for food, for sport, and simply because they were in the way. Thousands of kinds of animals have disappeared from the earth forever. Hundreds more are on the danger list today. About 170 kinds in the United States aloneare considered in danger.
Why should people care? Because we need animals, and because once they are gone, there will never be any more.Animals are more than just beautiful or interesting. They are more than just a source of food. Every animal has its place in the balance of nature. Destroying one kind of animal can create many problems. For example, when farmers killed large numbers of hawks, the farmers' stores of corn and grain were destroyed by rats and mice. Why? 现在人们似乎还没有意识到一种动物的灭绝的危害。为了赚钱人什么都愿意做，他们把动物的皮毛卖到商场，把动物的肉卖到餐馆。但是我们不能把一切责任都推卸到商贩的头上，消费者也有责任，如果没有消费者的需求那么商贩也不会铤而走险。人类还在吃着野生动物。比如：蛇。如果蛇灭绝了，老鼠会大肆繁殖，到那时候我们该怎么办……
