情态动词can的用法举例：
1、can表示能力
此时，can意为“能；会”。
如：I can play badminton, but I can't play volleyball.
我会打羽毛球，但是我不会打排球。
2、can表示请求
此时，can意为“可以，可能”。
如：Can you help me with the box?
你能帮我抬这箱子吗？
3、can表示允许
此时，can意为“可以，许可”；其否定形式can not（can't）意为“不可以”，语气弱于must not（mustn't）。
如：You can play basketball on weekends.
你可以在周末打篮球。
4、can表示推测
此时，can意为“可能，会”，常用于否定句和疑问句；其否定形式can not（can't）表示否定的推测，意为“不可能”。如：
Who sent the present? Can it be your brother?
是谁送来的礼物啊？会是你哥哥吗？
5、表示提供帮助。
如：Can I help you? = What can I do for you?

3、表推测。一般不能用于肯定句。除非特殊情况。一是理论上不可能而实际可能，二是右面加only.
特殊情况举例：
Even experienced teachers can make mistakes. 即使有经验的老师也会犯错。
She can only be my teacher.她只可能是我的老师。
记住，can表推测时可以用于否定句 、一般疑问句和特殊疑问句中。
比如：
He can't be a teacher.他不可能是个老师。
Who can he be?他会是谁呢？
Can he be watching TV?他会在看电视吗？
4、表有时。 It can be very cold her.这里有时非常冷。
5、表惊讶、怀疑。How can he do this?他怎么能这么做呢？
