Workload Too Demanding
We are at senior high school. Every day, we have many exercises that we can't complete and many books that we can't finish reading. The teachers continually repeat the words that we are already able to recite.
Teachers and students all work hard in order to improve the percentages① of those entering college. But the burden of work in class is so heavy that we have little time to do sports, which has left many of us in poor health. What's worse, many students have lost interest in their studies altogether.
It is known to all that good health is as important as knowledge. Virtues② such as bravery, discipline and love of our motherland can't be learned only in classes, but should also be learned through social practice. We should be given the time and opportunity to be exposed to society so we can learn what can't be taught from books.
We are young and we have young hearts. We love study as well as amusements. We hope that the number of exercises class will be reduced so we can take part in more after-class activities. In this way we will be able to learn much more and be more effective in our studies.

Stress in Modern Life

As everyone knows, stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. As the pace of modern life continues to increase, we are always feeling on the go from morning till night. And it is hard to slow down. It seems to us that everyone around us is aggressive. Therefore, whatever one does, he feels under stress all the time. It is clear that stress has much to do with the life in a competitive society.

Different people, however, think of stress quite differently. Some believe that stress is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. They are of the opinion that a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and to give purpose to life. Others argue that stress contributes to one’s mental decline and hence endangers his health. According to them, relaxation, the opposite of stress, is essential for a healthy mind and body.

Personally, I’m in favor of the former view. I think it is impossible to avoid stress when one is entirely devoted to the career he pursues. In my opinion, it is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health.

English Online made a survey on what junior middle school students do in their spare time. Here is the result.

After school, 60% of them study and read books or do homework at home. 5% watch TV and 15% play computers games. 20% do sports or play outdoors with classmates or friends. Things are much better than before, but still about 60% of students are busy at studying in their free time. Study is not the only important thing for children. Playing is important for them, too. By playing, children can keep healthy, and can learn things that they can’t get from books. So children need more time to do different kinds of activities.
