Personally, I think Yuan Ming Yuan should not be rebuilt. Firstly, it was because of its special meaning that this imperial garden became a precious cultural heritage which stands for the indignity of our nation. These ruins can remind us of those backward and corrupt years, and warn us not to let history repeat itself. In that case, it is more significant to preserve the ruins than to build a new garden, not to mention a replica on a completely new site.
Besides, the work will be too costly and time-consuming, especially in such an unfavorable situation—the Financial Crisis. The reconstruction will definitely add more burden to the government. We should put the money into better use, like improving medical care and developing poor areas.
Therefore, let the ruins lie there and witness what is yet to come!
