它与can 的区别就在于be able to 有人称和数的变化，而can 没有。
举例：我们可以说：If he work hard, he will be able to pass the exam.
而不能说：If he work hard, he will can pass the exam. able [形容词，不是动词!] =能; 能够;有才干
