Cotton - Afiber made from cotton plant. Differenttypes of
cottonplants produces either higher or lower quality
dependingon the staple length and fineness of this
fiber. It is very versatile, hardwearing, absorbent
andstrong (even stronger when wet).
Problems - Cottoncreases in use and requires ironing after
washingunless a special ‘wrinkle resistant finish’
isused (this has the adverse effect of altering the
handlewhich becomes stiffer).
Werecommend ironing whilst the fabric is still damp.
Thisinherent quality of creasing makes it attractive
toblend with man made fibers to give it crease
resistanceand drip dry qualities.
Washcare - Canbe washed at high temperatures, depending on
knittingconstruction. To reduce creasing, use a
fabricsoftener in the final rinse and if required,
starchmay be sprayed on when ironing.
Linen - Madefrom flax which comes from the flax plant and
itsvery strong and hardwearing. It is oftenblended
