Enjoying the view as we take a walk while on a vacation has became a habit for us, but in daily life, we lose patience to enjoy the view because we often thought that what passes us by was too familiar. Shanghai's graciousness is actually pretty apparent, especially when we are taking a walk on Heng Shan Road. That old parasol tree on Fu Xing West Road, the villa which is so full of exotic taste is hidden with some secret from the last century, not many cars, that quiet old woman and that old man who silently glares with those eyes are all things that reminds people of their ancient beauty.
I have not been able to find the right words to describe Fu Xing West Road even til now, and even though stating this might be fake as it seems, it is the truth. Every time I get off the No.15 bus and walk along this silent road, passing by consulates and villas, that parasol of the autumn, the cold wind blowing by that bookstore which has been abandoned for years, foreign couples with their baby cart passing me by, every picture reminds me of the silence of the word "time." High classed personal clubs has this simple but blue jazz tone to them, and you're able to hear the sound of the old men sweeping the ground of the empty kingdergartens. These tell a bit more story than the plain feeling of loneliness, these have a bit less decoration than "elegance", music stops, let us breathe, and time stops here as well.
It needs no words to express that Heng Shan Road is where the grace lies in Shanghai, and the only bad things about it is that the place draws too much attention and lacks a bit of calmness to itself.
