Wuthering Heights is the work of Emily Bronte who is one of the Grate Britain's female writers Bronte sisters. The novel is about a Gypsy foundling named Heathcliff. After being adopted by the old owner of Wuthering Heights, he suffered humilation and experienced a painful love. Because of that, he left the house for the pursuite of wealth and when he returned, he performed revenge on the landload Linton who married his girlfriend Catherine and his children. The novel shows a spirit of fighting against oppression for happiness, and the story is in a quirky and nervous romance. The book was used to be treated as the naive fantasy of a young female writer. However, because the book reflects the heat regional class struggle and British social phenomenon, it was highly praised by critics and gained much population amoung the readers.
Emily Bronte(1818-1848), British female writer. She is the younger sister of Charlotte Bronte and older sister of Anne Bronte. Born in a poor priest family, she used to study in boarding schools with poor condition, and had followed her sisters to Belgium to study French, German and French literature in order to run a school of their own but failed. Emily is introvert and quiet, she had a fantasy for poems since childhood. In the year 1846, the 3 sisters had published a collection of poems at their own expense. Wuthering Heights is her only one novel which was published in December, 1847. The 3 sisters had their 3 novels published in the same year: Charlotte's Jane Eyre, Emily's Wuthering Heights and little sister Anne's Agones Grey. Besides Wuthering Heights, Emily has wrote 193 poems. Emily is regarded as a genius female writer of Britain, she and her sisters are called by people as the Bronte Sisters.
