1、string：一般指一条线，比较细的线，一连串的东西
例句：The string broke with a snap. 吧的一声， 弦断了。
2、rope：也有粗绳的意思，但是更多的指绳索，线缆
例句：He coiled the rope on the deck. 他在甲板上把绳子绕好。
3、cord：一般是指粗线，粗绳，一段粗线或者一段细线
4、thread：大多指线索，编织在衣服上的线，线头等
5、wire：很好理解一般指电线，缆线
