二、二者用法上的区别

1、Should

should是助动词shall的过去式,只用于第一人称

①用于陈述语气:构成第一人称过去将来时、过去将来完成时以及过去将来进行时

②构成第一人称委婉、谦逊的语气。

③I should like用来表示愿望或意向,有时也可表示犹豫。

2、Would

would可用作助动词will的过去式,主要用于第二、第三人称,有时也用于第一人称(详见will)。用于陈述语气时可构成过去将来式、过去将来完成式、过去将来进行式。

用于虚拟语气时,在“would+动词不定式的一般式〔完成式〕”结构中与should用法相同(详见should,但would主要用于第二、第三人称)。

would还可和其他动词自由搭配,构成委婉语气。

should和would:

should常译作“应该”,would常译作“愿意;会”.
1.should和would都可用于疑问句,表示征询意见或提建议.但它们比shall和will更委婉.如 Should we open the window?/ Would you mind asking you so many questions?
2.should和would都可用于肯定句或否定句.
(1)should译作“应该”,表示义务或推测.如 We should protect our environment.(义务) / You shouldn’t know him.(推测)
(2)would译作“愿意;会”,表示过去的意愿或意志.如 She said she would become a volunteer./ He promised that he wouldn’t fall behind others.

一、should
1.表示义务、责任、建议或劝告,有“应当、应该”的意思。例如:
1) You should learn from each other.
2) You shouldn’t be so careless.
3) He should have told me the news earlier.
(should + have + 过去分词)表示对过去本该做的事而没有做,其否定形式是对过去本不做的事而做了的固定句型。
2.与why ,who ,how等词连用,表示意外、惊异等,有“竟会”等意思。例如:

3.用于表示建议、命令、决定等的从句中,有“应该、必须”的意思。例如:

3.表示过去习惯性的动作,着重动作的重复,有“总是、总会”等意思。例如:
On Sundays he would come to our village and work with us.
4.表示虚拟、假设、条件等,有“要、将要、会、就会”等意思。例如:
1) If you had come earlier ,you would have seen him.
2) It would be better to adopt the new method.
