As an old Chinese aphorism goes, nothing can be accomplished without norms and standards. According to my consideration, rules are not equal to fetter, namely deferring to the disciplines does not mean the lacking of mental freedom.
The first reason that students today need more disciplines than freedom is that rules guarantee the validity of behavior. It is important for an adult to know to do everything punctual. As students, we have a precise schedule which tells us what to do at different time. Without this discipline, students can come to school at any time they want so that they might be late for class and disrupt the teacher and other students. It is also hard for school managers to control the whole safety and the quality of education.
On the other hand, students also need rules to foster ones's virtue. Children learn what the good thing is through follow the disciplines, and start to copy the right behavior after asking the reason for doing this, namely, virtue. When students grow up and be emancipated, they will not lose their mind and become a criminal.
Freedom and independence are absolutely important, however, the best way is to keep a stasis between freedom and disciplines. As we have already emphasized too much on freedom side, I think students need more rules nowadays.本回答被提问者和网友采纳
