为什么及物动词会和介词连用？

attempt和absorb都是及物动词，vt。
为什么会和介词连用，如下：
1、IBM researchers are attempting to warm up human-computer relationships by working on getting computers recognize human gestures and emotions。
2、be absorbed in sth。
为什么会有to和in？

同attempt to do sth
2,主动(absorb sth) in another th，前边括号里就是你说的及物，因为后边要接another th，故有IN

absorb使专心、使全神贯注因而也是：他专注于学习（in=于）
