“克南”出生在索马里，由于国内局势动荡，他13岁时随家人移居加拿大。但克南仍然心系索马里，他创作的很多歌曲都和索马里局势相关。《飘扬的旗帜》是他今年2月底发行的专辑《游吟诗人》中的一首歌，歌曲带有浓郁的非洲气息，表达了对这片充满战火、贫穷和落后的土地不离不弃的热爱。
在今年9月国际足联举行的世界杯主题曲征集中，克南将自己的歌曲寄给了国际足联，最终被国际足联所认可，成为了南非世界杯的主题歌。
