9. LIFE CYCLE STATES AND REVISIONS
9.1 Life Cycle States
The following table defines the Life Cycle States which shall be applied to documents
generated or obtained for the project. Each Life Cycle State has a single code
associated with it, which is used as part of the Revision. The use of the Life Cycle
State code as part of the Revision is explained in the following sections.
CONTRACTOR shall only assign Life Cycle State codes from Phase 3 (FEED) until
such time as the Project officially enters phase 4 (detailed design). Contractor shall
issue all Documents to COMPANY at the first life cycle after Interdisciplinary Review
in the applicable phase of the project, and each time the Document is revised
thereafter. CONTRACTOR may be required to submit a copy of Documents to
COMPANY at the time it is issued for interdisciplinary check as needed or the
Agreement requires.
9.2 Progression through Life Cycle States
When a document is submitted to COMPANY, COMPANY may at its discretion
return comments for that document to CONTRACTOR. The returned comments will
indicate a return code as defined in the Document Control and Exchange Spec。The next appropriate Life Cycle State for
a document is dependent on a combination of the return code and the Life Cycle State.
The following table provides a quick reference of acceptable progression through Life
Cycle States.
9.3 Revisioning
Document revisions shall be alphanumeric, assembled from the Life Cycle State
Code (as indicated in tables above) and a sequential number incremented each time
the document is issued for a given Life Cycle State.
9.4 Requests for Information
Requests for Information require a different revision cycle to manage the
query-response process that revolves around them. Below is a table that defines
this simple revision coding system
9.5 Management of Change form revisions
The Management of Change booklet contains sections for Request for
Contractor Work Estimate, the Contractors Work Estimate, and Acceptance of Work
Estimate. It is intended to keep the request, estimating, and approval for Acceptance
of Estimate in one document that is issued back and forth between Company and
Contractor. Specific instructions in the use of the MOC booklet can be found in the
