一个小小的英语语法问题

各位哥哥姐姐：老师说一个句子一般只能出现一个谓语动词
那这个句子：This will help them understand not only where things stand right now, but also the reasons why the way they are.
里面的help和undertand不是出现了两个谓语动词了吗？为什么这样子啊？

不是所有的动词在句子里都作谓语的

谓语动词在一句话中其主要支配作用的词

这里的help them understand帮助他们理解 them 和 understand都是受help支配的 是由主语发出 或描述主语的

这里你可以说 this（主语）帮助…… 而不能说主语 understand了什么
understand 跟主语之间构不成直接联系 不是主语发出的 不受主语支配

因此这个词 不叫谓语动词

help sb （to)do sth 这里因为have属于使役动词 省略了动词不定式符号 to

这里的them 和 undestand 都是help 的宾语成分
not only where things stand right now, but also the reasons why the way they are.
而这受understand支配的 是对宾语的补充说明 是宾语补足语

再有像 to do （动词不定式）
doing （动词ing形式）
动词_ed(过去分词形式)
这些都是非谓语动词

他们在句中相当于一个名词 形容词 或副词等成分

并不是所有的动词都叫谓语动词，谓语动词是指整个句子的主语的动作，这个句子中，help是主语this的动作。而understand是宾语them的动作，应该叫宾语动词了。

help 是一个比较特殊的词，帮助某人做某事，后面是省略了to的动词不定式，动词不定式是非谓语动词形式。

其实按原来的说法应该是This will help them to understand ,这时候understand应经失去了动词的语法意义了，只能说是一个表达动作的词，只是在help 后面的动词应该省略 to， 所以在你看来就是两个谓语动词了。
