Many English major students have difficulty in learning University English because the teaching and learning have become very different from high school English classes.
In university, the teaching of English will not adhere to the basics of English but more about enlarge students' horizon about English culture and the abiltiy of using it. So in order to adapt to the new teaching, students should change their original attitude and hopes of learning basics from the teachers, but to pay more attention to establish their abilities to gather rough information from the teachers and to study it by themselves for further study.
Also learning in university is more free and convenient. Students can have more free time to organize their own study outlines. And library is a good place to study and finding useful resouces. So university students can take good advantage of quality times and free resources to learn.
Besides, learning from classmates and friends is as important as learning from teachers in university. Sometimes, it is a quicker way to get fresh news and knowledge and better learning group for English practice.
