The purchasing ability of our country has been on the increase since last decade. On one hand it has reflected that the income per capita has been increased as the growth of our national economy. On the other hand it has also revealed the increase of CPI especially when a detailed study on the increasement in spending is conducted. Due to the increase in housing and energy, the prices of other goods such as rent, food and transportation have all surged up in the last few years. If it is assessed by the amount of money spent per capita, the purchasing level is indeed increasing. However, if it is assessed by the amount of goods bought per capita, the amount is decreasing, which simply means people's living standard has not improved as much as it should be.
