while和when都可以用作”当”，如： when/while I was watching television
the telephone rang. 但while只带出两者时间比较长的动作，而when则可带出长时间或短时间的动作，如上述的句子就不可改为 I was watching television
while the telephone rang.（因为telephone rang的时间比watching television短） 但句子却可改为 I was watching television
